India's Democracy is often referred as a 'Miracle Democracy' by the western press. No country has more heroically pursued the promise of democracy. Against the odds of staggering poverty, conflicting religious passions, linguistic pluralism, regional separatism, caste injustice and natural resource scarcity, corruption and social unrest. Indians have lifted themselves largely by their own sandal straps to become a stalwart democracy and emerging global power.

Inspite of all the achievements in the last 60 years, we the people in India grumble, criticize and blame the Government, the political & bureaucratic class, justice system, police and the sorts. Most of our problems can be addressed by collaborative efforts between people to people, people to government, and people to corporate programs. The New Age interactive media; which is an amalgamation of web 2.0, social media, IPTV, Interactive Billboards, Mobile VAS, OOi Paper and Digital Signage has the potential to provide the necessary framework for interactions and make the collaboration productive, transparent and effective.

Topic: SEO: Marketing or Technology?
Show Synopsis || Hide Synopsis
Is SEO Marketing or Technology?
The answer can be either debated as an intellectual exercise or we can look for the answers from the perspective of the businesses who are trying to integrate online marketing into their traditional marketing budgets, and provide pragmatic recommendations.

When we talk about SEO, we frequently discuss about:
1. HTML & CSS
2. Meta & Other Tags
3. Crawlers & SE algorithms etc

We also talk about:
1. No of Visitors
2. Visitor Behavior (Page Views, Time/Visit etc)
3. Conversions (Leads, Sales etc)

While the 1st set of parameters comes under technology the 2nd set would characterize SEO as marketing. Most of the corporations recognize both the views, yet a large percentage of SEO projects tend to fail. The primary reason for the failures is the gap that exists between the two functions i.e. the failure lies in not recognizing that SEO is essentially a marketing function, which uses technology as an enabler. Marketing folks throw the SEO responsibility over to the "Technical" folks.

Through case studies and practical examples, the proposed session on 'SEO and Marketing' will educate & empower the audience in winning the SEO wars i.e. meeting the business objectives rather than just getting higher rankings and traffic. The speaker will address the needs of two distinct audiences: in-house organizations within corporations; and agencies that are looking to serve corporate clients.
Pradeep Chopra is a serial entrepreneur & is currently a co-founder of OMLogic Consulting, one of India's leading online marketing companies. Sandeep is an entrepreneur who has successfully donned multiple hats - that of Banker, Software Architect, Strategy Consultant (and a Foodie!) across varied industries and that too with flair, not to mention resounding success. The key - innate financial and commercial acumen with an ability to think big, all combined with a native intelligence to take calculated business risks at the right time.

Sandeep sits on the board of 4 companies with business interests in IT & ITeS, Interactive Media, Human Resources and Hospitality.

Sandeep is a first generation entrepreneur, who started his career with financial services, first with Citibank, and subsequently with retail division of Bank of America for a total of 5 years. At this point, he branched off on his own when the proverbial entrepreneurial bug bit him.

In 1998, he set up an outsourcing company with 2 people, specializing in Business Strategy Consulting, e-business Application and Web Enabled Solutions. This company eventually grew to 100+ people by the year 2006. By 2006, the company had established its lead management product portfolio in specific trade segments such as Education (Online Universities), Real Estate (Large Brokerage Houses) and Automobiles Dealerships in the United States. It was only natural to add a full service BPO arm to the existing set-up as a completely captive unit, acting as a backward-integration step to an already established 1-million leads a month business.

The BPO team is now gearing up for another phase of growth by adding domestic services offering to its portfolio.

The group's global clients already exceed the half century mark and are supported by a strong management team of professionals based out of his corporate office in Gurgaon.
